The change has started in Chile

The Global Hub for the Common Good was also presented in the University Alberto Hurtado. In this launch he was accompanied by relevant panelists such as the philosopher and expert in solidarity economy Luis Razeto, the Director of the Centre for Reflection and Social Action (CREAS) professor Juan Ignacio Latorre, the coordinator of Economy for the Common Good in Chile Gerardo Wijnant and the Director of Coenergía Patricio Canales, the first Chilean company that has developed the Common Good Balance Sheet.
On the 22nd of October the first workshop of the “Think Ocean Series: Co-creating a new economy from people for people” was developed with the participation of organisation representatives such as Sistema B, AVINA, Economy for the Common Good, Cooperatives, Fair Trade, Global Alliance for Banking on Values and the Chilean Ministry of Economy. During the workshop the participants answered the question “How do we imagine a new economy in 2025?” and they answers were filmed. These videos will be the starting point for the next workshop that will take place in Barcelona on the 18th November. The last Think Ocean Series of 2015 will be hosted in London in a workshop to be hold on the 14th December.

Finally, on Friday 23rd of October, Diego Isabel participated in the panel titled “New Economy” organised by the International Festival of Social Innovation (fiiS) with the President of Sistema B and member of B-Team Pedro Tarak, James Perry of B-Corps UK and the Chilean Minister of Economy Luis Felipe Céspedes. All the panelists remarked the necessity of moving towards a new economy focused on people and the common good and they also remarked the role of the Global Hub for the Common Good as an outstanding link between civil society and social movements with policy makers and governments.
After being launched in Latin America, the Global Hub for the Common Good will be also presented in Europe on the 10th November in an event in Madrid with the participation of Christian Felber, founder of Economy for the Common Good – and Board member of the Global Hub for the Common Good – and several representatives of social movements who work for a new economy such as Isabel Allende, Director of the European Anti-Poverty Network, Ana Ceballo, President of the Consumer association ASGECO, Carlos G. de Juan of Ouishare, Carlos Trías, member of the European Economic and Social Committee and Cote Romero of the Platform for a New Energetic Model.
